Week 9 lecture, we have learned about the history of motion picture including the invention of motion picture camera, Kinetoscope and the movie projection, Vitascope. The evolution of cinema is interesting, at first there are only stools provided in the cinema but as the length of movies get longer, they started to invest on the comfort of cinema.

Film industry is the most profitable industry among mass media. Thus, we’ve also discussed about the most profitable production, Avatar and Titanic by James Cameron. In fact, it is not easy to produce a good film as James Cameron actually took up to 10 years to screen the movie, Avatar.

Television is a new upsurge of revolution in film industry. Hollywood had no choice but to work together with television. Besides, we’ve watched the video about P Ramlee during the lecture, people did not appreciate his contribution when he is alive, he died poor; his death is such a huge lost to our country.

In our opinion, the film rating system is not really effective because people are still able to download the movie online or buy the tickets online. However, it can be improved if they created a program into online movie websites to verify viewers’ age by requiring ic number to be insert before watching the movie. Besides, they should be more strict in verifying the age of audience in cinemas.
